🚨 Emergency Plan

If an allergic reaction occurs:

  1. Recognize symptoms: hives, swelling, difficulty breathing, dizziness, rapid pulse.
  2. Call emergency services (911) immediately if symptoms are severe.
  3. Administer epinephrine (EpiPen) if prescribed — inject into outer thigh.
  4. Lay the person down with legs elevated (unless breathing difficulty — sit them up).
  5. If no improvement in 5-15 minutes, administer a second dose of epinephrine.
  6. Begin CPR if the person stops breathing or loses pulse.
  7. Stay with the person until emergency help arrives.
  8. Note the time of reaction and treatments given for medical team.

EpiPen Usage

1. Remove the blue safety cap.
2. Hold firmly against outer thigh (through clothing is OK).
3. Press down until you hear a click — hold for 10 seconds.
4. Remove and massage the area for 10 seconds.
5. Call 911 even if symptoms improve.
